I am a mineralogist who, In 2015, was mesmerized by Peter Fox's vision of data-driven discovery. In the past 6 years, working closely with Peter and his students, we have been attempting to usher in an era of mineral informatics. We have been constructing large data resources and applying methods of analysis and visualization to understand the diversity and distribution of minerals through space and time on Earth and other worlds. The findings are breathtaking, and are changing the field irreversibly. I'm especially excited by the prospects of applying network analysis to a large data resource I constructed during 6 solid months of the Covid shutdown. All thanks to Peter, who we miss every day as a colleague, mentor, and friend.
